CEDC Receives Commendation on 30 Years of Service from the Oxnard City Council

Commendation
The City Council of the City of Oxnard Does Hereby Commend Cabrillo Economic Development Corporation For Providing Housing Opportunities for Oxnard Residents and Extend Our Congratulations on the Occasion of its 30th Anniversary.
Whereas, residents of the Greater Oxnard Plain are celebrating the 30th Anniversary of the founding of Cabrillo Economic Development Corporation -- the largest Community Development Corporation founded in Ventura County; and
Whereas, Rodney Fernandez, Executive Director of the Cabrillo Economic Development Corporation provided the leadership and vision to build the organization from the Cabrillo Improvement Association to the Cabrillo Development Corporation, serving Ventura, Santa Barbara Counties and adjacent areas in Los Angeles Counties, and;
Whereas, Cabrillo Economic Development Corporation has developed and constructed over 1,200 rental and for-sale homes, manages 715 affordable rental units, and has helped over 500 families into home ownership through education, counseling and loan packaging; and
Whereas, Cabrillo Economic Development Corporation uses a community building approach to its work and has partnered with the City of Oxnard and its residents in addressing physical, social and economic initiatives; and
Whereas, Cabrillo Economic Development Corporation's resources provided foreclosure prevention counseling and has assisted over 2,000 families; and
Whereas, Cabrillo Economic Development Corporation has achieved exemplary member status of the NeighborWorks® America Network, the country's leader in affordable housing and community development, and celebrated National NeighborWorks Week by "Working Together for Strong Communities" through the "Pathways to Peace and Prosperity" on June 4th at Plaza Park, Oxnard, Califonia.
Now, Therefore, the City Council of the City of Oxnard does hereby commend, Cabrillo Economic Development Corporation and its Executive Director, Rodney Fernandez for continued service to our community, extend our congratulations on the occasion of reaching a 30 year milestone and extend best wishes for continued growth and success in all future endeavors.
