NeighborWorks America announced that the Cabrillo Economic Development Corporation (CEDC) will be featured in its upcoming NeighborWorks Book. The book will be published in December 2016.
The publication will consist of case studies of the outstanding work being done in community development as well as innovative solutions in affordable housing. The book will also illustrate how housing and resident engagement can be a platform for advances in health, education, workforce development, youth leadership and other pressing issues.
“We are proud to be selected as an organization doing innovative work and hope our experience can help other organizations facing similar issues across the country,” said Denise Bickerstaff, CEDC’s Director of Development and Administration. “By sharing information we can help other organizations overcome challenges.”
CEDC, a chartered member of the NeighborWorks network, not only building and manages affordable homes but helps build self-sufficiency for thousands of low-income residents through its HomeOwnership Center (HOC), which has the distinction of being the only HOC chartered by NeighborWorks America in Ventura County.
The mission of CEDC’s NeighborWorks® HomeOwnership Center is to enable and empower individuals and families to successfully purchase and retain homes by providing education, counseling and lending services; and to advocate for all individuals and families throughout the experience of owning a home, regardless of age, race, economic status, or other defining characteristics.
