Cabrillo is standing together with its regional, state, and national partners for a united coalition against the proposed HUD budget. As you may recall, the current Trump-Carson housing proposal would cut nearly $7 billion from HUD, resulting in devastating cuts to many affordable housing programs vital to our communities.
According to the US Census Bureau, there are 37,303 households in Ventura County that earn less than $25,000 annually. The 2015 American Community Survey data shows 12 percent of families with minor children in Ventura County have income below the poverty level. With HUD’s proposed budget cuts, these households may be at risk of homelessness. While we are hopeful that this budget will not proceed as planned, we do not plan to sit back and wait – we are stepping forward to act and we invite you to ADD YOUR VOICE.
