Cabrillo EDC Honored with Top Awards at the 2025 SCANPH Homes Within Reach Ceremony
On September 10, 2025, Cabrillo Economic Development Corporation (CEDC) proudly received multiple top honors at the Southern California Association of Nonprofit Housing (SCANPH) Homes Within Reach Awards, one of the region’s most prestigious celebrations of excellence in affordable housing.
CEDC was recognized as Developer of the Year, reflecting decades of leadership in creating affordable housing and building communities of opportunity and hope. The organization also took home the award for Project of the Year (Beyond LA) for Dolores Huerta Gardens, a vibrant new affordable housing community that has already begun making a meaningful impact for families. In addition, Bianca Farmer, CEDC’s Director of Resident and Community Services, was named Staff Member of the Year, honoring her dedication to supporting residents and enhancing community life.
About the SCANPH Homes Within Reach Awards
For more than 30 years, the Homes Within Reach Awards have been a hallmark event in Southern California’s affordable housing sector. Organized by the Southern California Association of Nonprofit Housing (SCANPH), the annual ceremony highlights the creativity, innovation, and impact of nonprofit developers, projects, and leaders working to ensure housing access for all.
Each year, SCANPH members nominate individuals, organizations, and projects across multiple categories. An independent jury of affordable housing professionals and industry experts, selected for their impartiality and commitment, reviews the submissions. Projects and people are evaluated on criteria such as innovation, problem-solving, and measurable community impact.
CEDC’s Legacy of Excellence
Founded in 1981, CEDC has developed more than 1,800 affordable rental and for-sale homes across Ventura and Santa Barbara counties, serving thousands of families, seniors, farmworkers, and veterans.
